TeachAid is committed to supporting equitable learning and ensuring the safety and privacy of students’ personal information. This Student Privacy Policy explains how TeachAid collects, uses, and safeguards student data when they engage with our platform through TeachAid’s educational products and services offered to schools and educators (the “School Services”).
We act as a “data processor” for student information collected through our School Services, following the direction of our school and district customers, and in compliance with applicable privacy laws.

2. Our Handling of Student Information
TeachAid respects the privacy of student data. We only collect and process student information necessary to provide our School Services. We adhere to laws such as:

3. Student Information
3.1 Information We Collect from Students

Basic Information for Participation: TeachAid collects a first name, nickname or user ID for students participating in activities. This information is not linked to other personal identifiers unless configured by the school or teacher.

Optional Features: Schools or teachers may use features that collect additional student data, such as names, responses, attendance records, or assessment results. Such data is used solely to enable teachers to track progress and provide support.

Teacher-Directed Data: Teachers may input or collect additional student data, for educational purposes.
3.2 Automatically Collected Information
TeachAid automatically collects technical data such as:

IP address, device type, operating system, and browser information.

Usage data, including timestamps, activity logs, and navigation patterns on the platform.
This information is used for functionality, security, and to improve the platform.
3.3 Anonymized Data
TeachAid anonymizes data to remove any personal identifiers. Anonymized data may be used for research, product development, or reporting, but TeachAid does not attempt to re-identify such data.
4. Security
TeachAid implements robust technical and organizational measures to protect student data. Security measures include:

5. Compliance with FERPA, COPPA, SOPIPA, and Similar Laws
When applicable, TeachAid processes data under the direction of schools or districts. Under COPPA, we rely on teachers or schools to obtain parental consent before students use our services. TeachAid complies with state laws like SOPIPA and others, as required.
6. Compliance with GDPR
For services provided to schools or districts in the EU/EEA, TeachAid acts as a “data processor,” with schools or districts as “data controllers.” We process data based on agreements with schools and follow GDPR principles for security, minimization, and transparency.
7. Changes to This Policy
TeachAid may update this Student Privacy Policy as necessary to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. We encourage schools and parents to review this policy periodically. Changes will be communicated to schools or districts before taking effect.
